Myopia Management
We offer science-backed myopia management options like overnight Ortho-K lenses, daily soft lenses, and special eye drops, all designed to protect your child's long-term eye health.
Ortho-K
Orthokeratology, commonly known as Ortho-K, is a non-surgical treatment that uses specially designed, custom-fit contact lenses worn overnight to gently reshape the front surface of the eye. While your child sleeps, these lenses temporarily correct their vision, allowing them to enjoy clear, glasses-free vision throughout the day. Beyond providing freedom from daytime eyewear, Ortho-K has been proven to slow the progression of myopia by controlling how the light focuses on the retina, helping to reduce the risk of future eye health issues linked to high levels of nearsightedness. It’s a safe, effective option for children and active teens who want to manage their myopia while maintaining a glasses-free lifestyle during the day.
MiSight
With MiSight® 1 day soft contact lenses, you can correct AND help protect your child’s vision from getting worse as they grow. These lenses use a specialized optical design with treatment zones that help reduce the eye’s tendency to elongate, which is the root cause of worsening myopia. MiSight® 1 day soft contact lenses are specifically designed for myopia control and are FDA approved to slow the progression of myopia in children ages 8-12 at the initiation of treatment.
Atropine Eye Drops
Low-dose atropine eye drops are a safe and effective treatment used to slow the progression of myopia in children. These specially formulated drops, typically used at very low concentrations, are applied once daily at bedtime. This treatment is often recommended for children who are rapidly progressing or who may not be good candidates for other myopia control options. Side effects may include light sensitivity and difficulty focusing at near. We highly recommend purchasing glasses with transitions and a line bifocal to compensate for such side effects.
